Guitarist & Composer

Specialising in acoustic fingerstyle guitar (instrumental) & 7-string nylon guitar, Lachie is based in Melbourne, Australia and has been performing professionally for over 20 years. 

Lachie undertook studies in contemporary music performance at Box Hill Institute of TAFE and Northern Metropolitan Institute of TAFE, where he studied guitar with guitarists including Jack Pantazis and Doug De Vries. 

An accomplished and versatile musician, Lachie also performs regularly on electric guitar.

Lachie’s television credits include 'Hey Hey It's Saturday' (with Tina Arena), 'It Takes Two' & 'Dancing with the Stars'. Lachie’s touring credits include country bands 'Jetty Road' and 'Carter & Carter' (both Golden Guitar winners), including at the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2018, 2019 and 2020 and with indie-folk band 'Trappist Afterland' (Denmark & UK, 2014). 

Current projects include the Beija-Flor Guitar Duo with fellow 7-string guitarist Jeremy Bourke. Beija-Flor undertook a feature performance at the Melbourne Guitar Show in 2016.

Michael Armitage guitars

Lachie plays a custom made Michael Armitage ‘Fleta’ 7 string nylon acoustic guitar.

Michael is a luthier based in St Kilda, Melbourne and specialises in making acoustic guitars.

Lachie’s guitar is based on the model of classical guitars made famous by master Spanish luthier and craftsman Ignacio Fleta Pescador (1897-1977).

Lachie’s album ‘Fingerpickings’ was recorded on this guitar.
